Local Payment: On this safari, a fixed local payment needs to be paid to the guide before the tour starts. The local payment is part of your tour price. It covers on-the-road expenses, such as national park entrance fees, excursions and activities, as well as the use of local guides. This provides your guide with sufficient funds on the road and ensures that your money goes directly to the African communities.
Vehicle: Jenman Safaris uses fully equipped Toyota Land Cruisers, 12-seater 4×4 safari vehicles or other appropriate vehicles with comfortable seating, large windows for game viewing, a music- and PA-system and air-conditioning. All luggage besides hand luggage and photo equipment, is carried on the vehicle, trailer or roof racks to ensure maximum comfort in the vehicle. For transfers between Victoria Falls and Hwange (or vice versa), 2×4 vehicles may be utilised.
Meals: Where included most breakfasts and dinners will be enjoyed in the restaurants of the various accommodation establishments, however on certain nights the guide will provide an authentic meal for the group, which will be enjoyed together in the evening, often around a camp fire. Please advise us of any special dietary requirements in advance.
Semi-Participation: The Beach and Wildlife Voyager is a semi-participation safari. This means, that the clients will be responsible for performing and helping with certain tasks, such as setting up and breaking down of overnight camps (tents, chairs, tables), packing and unpacking the vehicle, assisting with preparation of meals and cleaning dishes.
Luggage: Maximum baggage allowance: 15 kg. Jenman Safaris stipulates this luggage allowance, as an overloaded vehicle is a danger to both the clients and the guide. This does not include photographic equipment and a small daypack. Please bring a backpack or soft barrel bag, not a suitcase. Don’t bring too much clothing, as there are washing opportunities along the way. Please adhere to the allowance specified as space for luggage is limited.
Travelling Time & Distances: All travelling times are affected by road conditions, border crossings, detours and weather conditions, therefore on certain days travelling times may be longer than anticipated especially where there is a lot of distance to be covered. Please keep in mind that the time it takes to travel 100 km in your home country is not equivalent to the time it takes to travel 100 km on African roads, therefore we encourage you to sit back and enjoy the spectacular scenery Africa has to offer. Where possible additional stops will be made to ensure your travelling comfort at all times.
Visas: The onus is on the client to organize all visas required to visit Zimbabwe, Mozambique and South Africa prior to departure.
** NB! All clients are advised to obtain their visa before traveling to Mozambique **
Border visas are only issued to citizens from countries where there is no Mozambican consular representation. In all other cases pre-application is mandatory and failure to comply might lead to refusal of entry. Day 1 Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
On arrival at Victoria Falls Airport in Zimbabwe you will be met and transferred to your lodge. This afternoon there will be a guided tour of the mighty Victoria Falls. A pre-departure meeting will be held at 18h00.
Day 2 - 3 Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe.
We depart Victoria Falls and make our way to Hwange National Park where we spend the next two nights. Hwange National Park is one of Africa’s finest havens for wildlife and is home to vast herds of elephant, buffalo, and zebra. It is home to many predators and endangered species plus varied birdlife. We visit the Painted Dog Conservation Centre to witness the work that is done to protect these endangered species. The next day is spent on a full day’s game drive in the park.
Day 4 Matopos, Zimbabwe
Matopos Hills comprise of an extraordinary collection of huge bare granite hills, with gravity-defying boulders scattered all over the countryside, to create a truly unique and rather mysterious landscape. The national park is famous for its outstanding views, San (bushman) painted caves, wildlife (especially the Black Eagle) and as the chosen burial place of Cecil John Rhodes, who named it his favourite spot. We visit his grave site in the afternoon.
Day 5 Great Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe
We drive to the Great Zimbabwe Ruins via Gweru where we visit the ruins, before checking into our accommodation for the evening. The ruins are a unique testimony to the Bantu civilization of the Shona between the 11th and 15th centuries.
Day 6 Mutare, Zimbabwe
Today we drive via Mutare to the Bvumbu Mountains located in the east of the country bordering on Mozambique. This area is Zimbabwe’s gateway to the sea and is known as the Eastern Highlands. Adorned with cool green forests, rolling hills, trout filled streams and rugged mountain peaks, the region is reminiscent of the English countryside.
Day 7-8 Vilanculos, Mozambique
Crossing the border into Mozambique, we head southwards to the coastal town of Vilanculos, the longest drive on our safari. The village of Vilanculos is close to the beach, about halfway between Maputo and Beira. You’ll find buzzing markets, restaurants, public phones, banks and quaint supermarkets. The next day is at leisure to explore the village or just to relax on the beach.
Day 9 - 10 Inhambane, Mozambique
We take a coastal drive to the sleepy town of Tofo where graceful dhows bob on the tranquil water. We spend two nights at White Sands with breath-taking views of the Indian Ocean. Enjoy walking on the pristine beach or partake in the various water sports on offer. Scuba diving is among the best in the world with regular sightings of manta rays, whale sharks and turtles. (All activities are optional and for own expense).
Day 11 Massingir, MozambiqueToday we drive west towards Massingir, which is close to the South African border. We settle down for the night at Albufeira Camp in the Limpopo Transfrontier Park, close to the Massingir Dam wall.
Day 12 - 13 Kruger National Park, South Africa
We re-enter South Africa through the Giriyondo gate into the world-renowned Kruger National Park, South Africa’s most famous and biggest game reserve. Truly the flagship of the South African National Parks, Kruger offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa and it is home to an impressive number of species. We depart the camp at sunrise on our second day for a full day of game viewing in the park, a chance of spotting the ‘Big 5’ again, whilst making our way to one of the southern camps. Our last night in the park will be enjoyed around the campfire and we will enjoy a typical South African Braai (BBQ).
Day 14 Johannesburg, South Africa
After a leisurely breakfast, we head back to Johannesburg via the Abel Erasmus pass and the small towns of Lydenburg and Dullstroom.
Day 15 End Of Tour
The tour ends after breakfast this morning, when your guide will bid you farewell. We hope to welcome you on one of our African adventures again soon.
